Halo is yet another live Current 93 recording, released in November 2004. It’s been around for a few years so I imagine most people have already heard it but I just bought my copy a few months ago so it’s still fairly new to me.
As live albums go, this is a good one, both in the material presented and the recording quality. Current 93 is one of the few bands that can consistently release good live recordings. All too often live albums are sloppy and unpolished, but that’s definitely not the case here. This almost sounds like a studio recording. The performance in question was in October 2003 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.
There’s a really funny review of this album on the iTunes Music Store:
I don’t know what to think of it… This music kinda scares me to be honest…
I personally think that’s a pretty good review. Any musical recording that can evoke that kind of emotional response (even if the writer is joking) can be considered a success, in my opinion.
Something to say?
