Current 93 tour

Firstly: the Current 93 tour is STILL ON, and NO dates have been cancelled!

As many of you will have seen, Rickie Lee Jones has been unable to appear at the C93 shows. Both I and Rickie Lee want to point out this happened due to bad luck and unforeseen problems. We remain good friends and, although sadly this time the energy was against us, we are both determined to reschedule our working together as soon as we can.

The dates that C93 are playing are below. This will be the last C93 tour of Europe for some time.

Current 93: April 2008 European shows with Æthenor, Baby Dee, Hush Arbors and Skitliv

Current 93 are delighted to announce a small series of European shows in a build-up to the release of their new album ‘Anok Pe: Aleph At Hallucinatory Mountain’. Also appearing with Current 93 will be some of the artists I love the most, and whose presence on our short outing honours me greatly. The second night of the show in Moscow and the first night in Berlin—those of 12 and 13 April, respectively, will feature Current 93 performing material from their early Birth-Canal Blues albums, NATURE UNVEILED and DOGS BLOOD RISING.

Current 93 in Moscow and Berlin

We are delighted to announce that Hush Arbors will now appear in place of Rickie Lee Jones as special guest act in Moscow on 11 April and in Berlin on 14 April. Current 93 at Tilburg/Roadburn 20 April

In the absence of Rickie Lee Jones, Current 93 will now be playing a specially lengthened set and Hush Arbors will also be playing a solo set. Current 93’s set will consist of material from early albums such as NATURE UNVEILED, DOGS BLOOD RISING, IMPERIUM and CHRIST AND THE PALE QUEENS, as well as our most recent work. Three CDs released at the time of the Current 93 tour in England and Europe

Three CDs will be released to tie in with the C93 shows in April and the appearance of Marc Almond and Michael Cashmore playing together at the London show.

These CDs are available from the shop for pre-order now. But please do note: THEY WILL NOT BE SENT OUT until the end of the C93 tour on 22 April.

• We expect the C93 Tour CDEP, BIRTH CANAL BLUES, to be available at the C93 shows from 13 April/Berlin onwards.
• We expect the CD/DVD of BLACK SHIPS HEAT THE DANCEFLOOR to be available for purchase at the 21 April/London show.
• We expect the GABRIEL AND THE LUNATIC LOVER CD to be first made available for purchase at the 21 April/London show.

Current 93: Birth Canal Blues

CURRENT 93 AS ANOK PE release this 4 track, 20 minute CD on the occasion of their last European tour for some time. With a full colour 8 page booklet, and with a lineup of David Tibet, Baby Dee and Andrew Liles, these are pre-echoes of the forthcoming album ALEPH AT HALLUCINATORY MOUNTAIN.

The four tracks, which will not be released in this form on the album, are:

1. I Looked to the South Side of the Door;
2. She took us to the Places where the Sun Sets;
3. The Nylon Lion Attacks as Kingdom;
4. Suddenly the Living are Dying.

Price: £7.50 plus postage and packing and VAT where applicable.

Current 93: Black Ships Heat the Dancefloor DVD/CD

This DVD/CD contains the two videos directed by Cam Archer for the C93 tracks ‘The Beautiful Dancing Dust’ (vocals by Antony) and ‘Black Ships Ate The Sky’ (vocals by Tibet) as well as the 4 tracks from the 12" release, which featured 2 remixes by JG Thirlwell of the track ‘Black Ships Ate the Sky’ and two Matmos remixes, of ‘The Beautiful Dancing Dust’ and ‘Black Ships Ate The Sky’. The DVD is region-free and should play on any DVD player in any region.

Marc Almond with Michael Cashmore: Gabriel and the Lunatic Lover

GABRIEL AND THE LUNATIC LOVER is the first release from a collaboration between Marc Almond and Michael Cashmore. This first release sets to music two poems by Count Stanislaus Eric Stenbock—the extraordinary 19th century gay writer whose bizarre life of decadence, drug addiction, alcoholism and poetry coupled with Satanic, vampiric and Catholic obsessions led to his early death at the age of 36 in 1895. His final years, it is said, saw Stenbock accompanied everywhere by a lifesize wooden doll that he called ‘le petit comte’ and which he believed to be his son.

This 2 track CD EP features vocals from the legendary Marc Almond, who needs no introduction whatsoever, with all of the music composed and played by Michael Cashmore, who is well-known from his extensive catalogue of compositions for, and recordings with, Current 93 and Nature & Organisation as well as a solo artist and collaborator, most recently working with Antony who appeared as vocalist on Michael’s previous release ‘The Snow Abides’. This 2 track CD is housed in a beautiful full colour digipak containing previously unpublished paintings of Marc by Russian artist Vania Soutavliov, a rare photograph of the enigmatic Count, as well as the complete texts to the poems and all credits.

Second vinyl pressing of the 2LP ‘The Inmost Light’ now in stock

We have done a repressing of THE INMOST LIGHT on vinyl, as a 2LP set with fully illustrated colour booklet and gatefold sleeve. This is identical to the last issue, except that this edition is on TRANSPARENT CLEAR vinyl.

Shipping of Nature Unveiled and Dogs Blood Rising reissues

These are now in stock and we have been sending them out directly from Durtro’s main stockroom in Canada to save time in sending them to England and then sending them out again to the purchaser.
