Durtro News: 14 May 2009
Dear all:
Aleph at Hallucinatory Mountain
As we mentioned previously, the album is released on 18 May and will be arriving on your doormat then or soon afterwards, though of course this is down to the vagaries of the postal and customs services.
As usual the album was leaked before issue and put up on illegal download sites and people's blogs, which saddened me, inevitable though I knew it would be. My thanks to all of those who knew it was illegally available but chose not to make a copy of it.
We have made two alterations to the Subscription Edition, and hope these meet with your approval:
- David had previously stated that the free audio CD would contain radically different versions of three tracks from ALEPH: track 2, "Poppyskins", track 6, "Not Because the Fox Barks" and track 7, "UrShadow". After much thought, he decided to make this free CD contain the ENTIRE pre-mix album. So, the audio CD is an alternative mix and performance of the full ALEPH album, the version that all the band listened to and discussed in its final pre-mix stage; this edition of the album also contains the different versions of the 3 tracks that were originally to have been the only 3 tracks on the extra CD.

- David had also previously stated that each CD would be signed individually to the subscriber by him. Then David realised that this wouldn't make the CD any different from a normal copy of the CD that he would sign to any person who wasn't a subscriber. Consequently, he instead decided to create a small paper insert, hand-printed by Alan Anderson who has done so many of David's hand-printed Durtro Press texts, which is signed by David to the individual subscriber.
The accompanying DVD contains two films. The first consists of Baby Dee and David in the studio working on material and discussing the composition and other topics. The second film is of C93 rehearsing ‘Birth Canal Blues’ and ‘Vau Vau Vau’ before starting their brief tour in 2008. It has been beautifully filmed by Lauren Winton: www.myspace.com/laurenwinton and exquisitely edited and produced by Davide Pepe: www.davidepepe.com
As mentioned before there is a beautiful little badge with Aleph's face on it.
Special CD for Santiago de Compostella and Leipzig Wave-Gotik-Treffen
There will be a special CD produced for sale at these shows; any copies remaining will be put up for sale in the Durtro shop. Full details of it will be released after we return from Leipzig at the end of May.
‘The Wire’ T-shirt designed by David Tibet
This T-shirt sold out immediately, making it the fastest-selling-ever T-shirt done by the magazine. Thanks to all of those who made it so successful.
